Design and optimization of optogenetic multiwell microelectrode array assays for evaluating functional neurotoxicity

Recreating physiological neural activity in vitro would be advantageous for screening neurotoxins. Optogenetics affords highly precise control of neural activity and, when coupled with multiwell microelectrode array (MEA) technology, enables new functional assays for neural models in vitro. Case studies will illustrate how optogenetic MEA assays can accelerate neurotoxicology studies.

What you will learn in this 10 minute webinar:

How evoked assays, with electrical or optogenetic stimulation, can:

  • Increase assay reliability
  • Accelerate assay time scale by elevating activity levels
  • Simulate advanced patterns of activity, such as high frequency seizure-like responses
